Every single day Nigeria Loses about 2,300 under-five and 145 women from pregnancy and delivery complications including infection which accounts for 15% of this burden. This makes our dear country the second largest contributor to the under-five and maternal rate in the world. Each year around the world 1 million newborns and mothers die of infections soon after childbirth and this burden remains high amongst poor families
Traffina Foundation for Community Health has been at the front line in promoting Safe Motherhood in Nigeria
As part of our contribution to ensure that every women survives the sacred act of childbirth and contributing to the decrease in maternal and newborn mortality statistics, Traffina Foundation creates the 1 KIT SAVES 2 BENEFIT . Through this campaign we design, produce and distribute this lifesaving “CLEAN BIRTH KIT” Free to serve the unique health need of women especially in the rural communities.
Many pregnant women living in the poor rural communities either conducts deliveries on their own or fall back to the traditional homes because they can’t afford the cost of delivery at the primary health center ( which is five thousand naira –N5000, only) and they are faced with multiple delivery complication that leads to their death. . Although health facility birth are safer that the home births, we also distribute to health facility to ensure that every women a clean and safe birthing environment for all women irrespective of status.
