About Us

Organization Profile

TRAFFINA FOUNDATION FOR COMMUNITY HEALTH (TFCH) is a non-governmental non-profit organization that exists to complement the efforts of the Federal Health departments, local implementing Partners, International Aid Agencies and Civil Society organizations in promoting and implementing Maternal and Child Health programs in Nigeria.

The organization is led by a Nurse/Midwife and a Fellow of Maternal health Program with the Maternal Health Task Force at Harvard School of public Health and Institute of International Education USA.

Traffina foundation has been on the frontline of promoting maternal and child health programs by providing door to door ante-natal services, distribution of free clean delivery kits, community advocacies on male involvement in maternal and child health mapping and training of Traditional Birth Attendants and free medical care services to children in rural communities.

Legal Status

The Traffina Foundation is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration /IT/NO34269 of Federal Republic of Nigeria- Abuja, and Owerri North Local Government Area in Imo State, and Network of Non-governmental organization of Nigeria.

Our Objectives
  • Eliminate all forms of violence against women and young girls in Nigeria, especially in post conflict zones in Nigeria.
  • Carrying out enlightenment programs that are focused on Sexual & Reproductive Health Rights; treatment adherence for people living with HIV/AIDS; drugs and substance abuse prevention programs; and HIV/AIDS education, prevention, care and support.
  • Strengthen capacity of health workers in primary health care centers, in other to deliver quality Maternal and Child Health care services.
  • Conduct awareness programs in rural communities on safe Motherhood.
  • Providing home follow up to pregnant women through phone calls and SMS to ensure safe pregnancy and delivery outcomes.
  • Mapping and training of Traditional Birth Attendants on the extent to which they can provide services to pregnant women.
  • Providing information on effects of harmful practices during pregnancy and child birth.
  • Carry out sensitization programs on importance of male involvement in Maternal and Child Health.
  • Visiting the rural communities to sensitize women on need to attend ANC and to deliver at health centers.
  • Carrying out enlightenment campaigns and advocacy against Female Genital Mutilation and early girl child marriage.
